The quality rating of the school Madison would have attended without DCSRN’s intervention.

The quality rating of the school Madison will now attend because of DCSRN’s intervention.

Tia Presaud was frustrated with her daughter’s current private school in Maryland. She felt the school was not providing Madison, a rising fifth grader, with a quality education. After being referred to DCSRN by a friend, Tia was thrilled for the opportunity to take advantage of DCSRN’s free services.
Having attended public schools in DC as a child, Tia was interested in applying for a fifth grade spot in the school choice application process but didn’t know much about how the application process worked. She also recently had a new baby and was concerned about how much time she would be able to realistically dedicate to researching school options and navigating the process on her own.

"I am so happy that I was referred to DCSRN’s services, as I would have simply gotten lost in the process, been overwhelmed and felt like I was in this alone." – Tia Presaud

Having an objective informational resource like DCSRN was a relief to Tia. Her parent advocate helped her research schools, reminded her about deadlines and ensured applications were submitted on time. When the lottery results came out, Tia was thrilled to learn Madison was matched to a high quality middle school. Tia and Madison are so excited to start school in the fall.
