The High Quality Schools Campaign
DCSRN's leading initiative is the High Quality Schools Campaign (HQSC), which helps families, particularly from underserved communities, navigate the DC school choice process so that all students can access quality public schools. DCSRN is the only organization in DC executing this targeted work and is focused scaling up the HQSC to meet the clear demand that exists.
"School choice becomes obsolete if families and students cannot navigate the application process." —DCSRN Executive Director David Pickens
How DCSRN Helps Families Access Quality Schools
DCSRN has developed over 40 active partnerships, including the DC Housing Authority, homeless shelters, child development centers and community-based organizations. DCSRN also maintains longstanding relationships with DC Public Schools and the DC Public Charter School Board. Check out DCSRN's partner list>>
Key to the HQSC is parent advocates, who are part-time staff that serve 100-120 students each. The number of families DCSRN can serve in each campaign is dependent upon the number of parent advocates DCSRN can fund. DCSRN is currently in the process of aggressively raising funds for additional parent advocates to meet the clear demand for DCSRN’s services. Meet a parent advocate>>
