There's a new sheriff in town, if D.C.'s public charter schools were a Wild West town. But since they're not, we'll go with the announcement of a new executive director: Scott Pearson, who most recently oversaw charter school programs at the U.S. Department of Education.

Studies have consistently shown that compared to their white counterparts, minority students are less likely to graduate high school on time or receive any form of higher education, and more likely to drop out of high school.

DCPS, union to start work on new contract

D.C. Public Schools is scheduled to begin negotiations on a new contract with its teachers union next week, a grueling process that took nearly three years and the intervention of a mediator last go-around.

We were making our final descent toward LaGuardia airport in New York when my husband nudged me from his window seat.

On August 24th, 2011, DC School Reform Now was accepted to become a part of the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) Network. DCSRN has been communicating with PIE over the last year and submitted an application to join the network earlier this summer.

DC School Reform Now is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Krista D’Amelio as Development and Project Manager.

In this position, Krista will work with the Executive Director to develop and sustain a diverse portfolio of both local and national funders. She will also support all of DC School Reform Now’s programmatic initiatives surrounding the High Quality Schools Campaign, communications and outreach.
