DCSRN Launches the 2018-19 High Quality Schools Campaign

EdFEST 2018The 2018-19 High Quality Schools Campaign (HQSC) kicked off with an exciting and busy Saturday at EdFEST. Parent advocates both veteran and new were able to engage with families and students as they browsed the many schools that the District offers. Aside from meeting their potential advocate, parents were able to watch virtual school tours of schools that they had just met, ask questions of DCSRN staff to make sure that they could benefit from our services, and begin thinking about schools that would meet the needs of their families. Advocates also shared DCSRN's valuable curriculum resources that allow parents to dive deep into questions surrounding school quality.

DCSRN's goal for this campaign remains the same as in years past: to make sure that as many families as possible engage with the school choice process and feel empowered in a choice system. For choice to work, however, it must be equitable. School choice in DC has changed considerably in the past few years, but there are still families that encounter barriers each day that make accessing this process a challenge. By expanding our partnerships and our program, DCSRN seeks to reach those families that need our support the most, and create greater opportunities for access.

With this framing at the forefront of our work, DCSRN is excited for this cycle's HQSC, and is thankful for our supporters and greater community who make this important work a reality.
